Congo Riverfront Parks

Project Description

The project of the Congo riverfront parks in Kinshasa (La Gombe district) is a case of holistic landscape urbanism that aims to be the first phase of reconnection between the Congolese capital and its wide river. Designed as a sponge park preventing flash floods, the green space is also a collection of local species of trees and flowers to be enjoyed by the local population. The green waterfront is also the first phase of the water transport system that will connect a dozen of river shuttle stations and marinas, from La Gombe to the Cite du Fleuve, La Nsele and Maluku.
