Dalian Urban System Plan (2020-2040)

Project Description

With more than 7 million inhabitants, Dalian is one of the main metropolitan areas of Northeast China. A major port located on a hilly peninsula, Dalian sees its polycentric development challenged by a complex urban form characterized by land reclamation on sea, increasing traffic congestion and rapid deconcentration of its industrial functions. Citilinks was commissioned by Dalian Urban Planning Bureau and the Sino-French Urban Planning Institute of Nanjing University to contribute to the Urban System Plan of Dalian Metropolitan Area, by identifying how to achieve Transit Oriented Development, mixed-used community planning and multimodal mobility planning along the development process of metro sub-centres. We also proposed a post-industrial requalification strategy for the historic centre of Dalian, by addressing a micro-mobility plan aligned with guidelines for green and blue infrastructure.
