Trencin, Europe’s Healthy City
Project Description
With a holistic, people-first approach; Trencin: Europe’s Healthy City celebrates Trencin’s traditional strengths while preparing for its bright future. Harnessing the vibrant energy of the city’s redevelopment and public engagement initiatives, while celebrating its rich history, the plan integrates many urban elements not always considered together, including economics, education, culture, mobility and a stunning natural environment, to create dynamic opportunities for current residents and coming generations. The absolute basis for the healthy city is healthy people. Healthy people need high quality public spaces, green areas and recreational facilities, as well as quality walking and biking routes, to enjoy physical activity. They also need access to healthy food, inspiring educations and good jobs. Finally, healthy people need a built form that enables healthy functions. The project received 2 awards at the Waterfront Planning Marathon in 2014 at the ISOCARP Congress of Gdynia (Poland). For more information about the projectclick here.
